Bend A Bull, 2010

‘Wolf in the Winter’, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Dressed with a bull’s-skull belted to my backside that was partially hidden beneath a sheep’s wool blanket I set out with a photographer in tow (Astrid Van Sterkenberg) to invite passers-by to pose for a snapshot with me. Once lined up together, I put on a cap fitted with a skeleton oxtail, hoisted the blanket over my head and turning round to bend at the waist, revealed the bull’s skull to camera.

I wanted to capture portraits of the passers-by’s reactions to the suddenly macabre composition.
